Children need root canal treatment for the same reasons as adults, saving a tooth. Protecting them from early loss can help prevent a “bad bite” that later on would require orthodontic treatment.

Dental trauma most frequently occurs in children or teens in whom the teeth have not yet fully developed. When treating traumatized teeth, the timeliness of care is key to saving the tooth. Children may also need root canal treatment at some point in their youth due to untreated cavities.
